1. The Pulmawa bombing is a gross tragedy. Period. In the same vein, it seems to have become a regular feature beyond all the shadow-boxing in works.

But beyond the dim of name-calling, breast-beating, exhortations of vendetta, we still wonder where the buck is supposed to stop.

Someone would be held responsible ultimately, but there is not one leader/ official of standing who has had the courage to step up and admit to Intelligence failure/ logistic error .... whatever.

This lack of shelving moral responsibility is eventually bigger than the tragedy itself. And it now seems an accepted tradition irrespective of the political dispensation at the helm of affairs.

2. I doubt if it is possible to keep a lid on the quality/ veracity of content & clutter in this age of e-information explosion. But every segment of the dissemination medium seems freely in fray of profiteering from the tragedy.

And since all these segments of the information spectrum are busy with their business side, they are doing their best to ensure that we as a nation do not stand united. Either by design or default, they are busy widening all our social cracks.

News Reporting cannot be allowed to rise above any control over law/ legislation/ administration or at least above sheer empathy or common-sense.

3. Finally, no one should be allowed to become so big in a working democracy that they are allowed to canvass on basis of leaked state-secrets whilst denying access to the comete body of this information. Eating the cake and saving it for later parties is antithesis to any law of nature.

4. The Armed Forces/ paramilitaries have very strongly entrenched traditions/ systems in taking care of their own. But I wonder why even an iota of print/cyber-space is not allotted when a policemen are routinely massacred by lowlifes/ thugs/ mafia/ Naxalites. Keeping into account their working condition/ remuneration/ compensation etc, they are doing an equivalent if not more service to the nation.

Just that the tragedies are not as colourful & attractive. I hope some semblance of parity is achieved in this regard via appropriate legislation too.

5. Lastly, I have no problems if India & Pakistan keep playing friendly-matches in win-win format at the highest echelons. But I have grave distaste for plight of players enlisted for that end.
