Biography / Life Sketch : Dr. Vinay Kumar Singh, Ph. D., Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, DDU Gorakhpur University, born on 15th July, 1969, has a brilliant academic carrier. Dr Singh has involved himself in research on Fasciolosis and its snail vectors control since 1993. Current research interests are Isolation, characterization and biological evaluation of Natural Plant Products and pest control, Vector-Borne Diseases, Toxicology & Pharmacology.
Dr. Singh has University teaching and research experiences of more than Nineteen years. Dr Singh has successfully isolated and identified pure molluscicidal compounds from more than a dozen medicinal plants and observed their mode of action on the snails at cellular level. His work is recognized internationally in the field of formulation and use of synthetic and bio-pesticides for integrated pest/ vector-diseases management. Dr. Singh has devised a bioassay method for pesticides using isolated organs of snails. Currently, he is working on the pesticidal property of the different formulations of cow urine of Indian cow breeds singly or synergistically with bioactive product of plant molluscicides. The research publication on fasciolosis control by means of characterized plant derived pesticides, synergistic combinations, bait formulations or by reducing the reproductive capacity of vector/host to limit the population below threshold level which are widely quoted and acclaimed world over.
Dr. Singh has published 90 full research papers in 54 leading International Journals of repute with impact factor ranging 1-5. Dr. Singh has written 03 reference books- Bioindicator; Pestiferous Gastropods and their Control and Biosystematics & Bioecology of Aphis spiraecola Patch. Lambert Academic Publishing, Germany and also 03 chapters in edited book on the topic “Pharmacological effect of spices” in Vol.-2 of book In-Recent Progress in Medicinal Plants- Phytochemistry and Pharmacology (2003), 321-353 and “Medical and Biological Importance of Piper nigrum L.”

In Recent Progress in Medicinal Plants Vol. 32- Ethnomedicine and Therapeutic Validation, (2012) Chapter-17: pp-343-360. SCI TECH PUBLISHING LLC, Texas, USA and third one is “Effect of cyclophosphamide, eyestalk ablation and H2O2 on Lymnaea acuminata: A study on manipulation of egg laying”, Environmental Pollution and Toxicology, Chapter XI: 91-104, APH Publishing Corporation, India. Dr Singh publications have got 536 citations all over world having 15 H-index and 20 i10-indexes.

Dr Singh has supervised 08 Ph. D. students. At present 04 students are registered for Ph. D. degree under his supervision. He has delivered invited talks/ presented research papers in several National and International conferences. Dr Singh served as Joint Organising Secretary in International Symposium on Harmony-2013 (11-13 November, 2013). He has successfully completed one major research projects funded by UGC. Dr. Singh is life member of Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA), Kolkata and National Environmentalist Association (NEA), Ranchi. He is the Regional Editor/ Member Editorial Board of International scientific Journals- American J of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Research J of Parasitology, J of Pharmacology & Toxicology, Research J of Environmental Toxicology and International J of Zoological Research, Natural Environment and International journal of Epidemiology & Infection and he is reviewer of several International Research Journals.
