Research Project worth Rs.2.24 Crore for UIET, PU
Chandigarh- University Institute of Engineering and Technology(UIET), Panjab University bagged another research project, second in row, amounting to Rs. 2.24 Crore from Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India under the title ‘Development of 5G based UAV Augmented Intelligent Monitoring and Surveillance System’.

Future networks like 5G will have more reachability, better service architecture and higher speed for IoT(Internet of Things) and Artificial Intelligence based citizen centric smart monitoring, security, health, mobility related applications etc. The service architecture of 5G communication technology will lend support to concurrent execution of variety of M2M(Machine to Machine) services. This technology will play a major role in Smart City mission and solving India specific challenges. Recently, Government of India has released guidelines for drone usages. Data collected using policy compliant Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) will work in augmentation to sensors’ data to offer more accurate and reliable monitoring and security. Faculty members at Telecommunication Laboratory, UIET worked on this recent development.
