Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of UIPS
Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of UIPS commenced at PU

CHANDIGARH. University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Panjab University, Chandigarh kick started its Platinum Jubilee Celebrations, here today.

From it's humble start in 1944 at Lahore to 2018 at Chandigarh, the Institute has blossomed to achieve splendid heights in the field of research and academics.

The event was inaugurated by the Honourable Vice Chancellor Panjab University, Professor Raj Kumar who encouraged such close interface and interaction between students and the masters of the field and the Alumni. He appreciated the strong domain of UIPS family.

26 November 2018 marked the 90th Birthday of Professor Harkrishan Singh, Padma Shri awardee and a luminary persona beyond compare; the doyen of Indian Pharmaceutical Sciences.

He illuminates the atmosphere not in many words but by his amicable silence. Every word he utters is meaningful and undisputed as asserted by Professor P C Dandiya, distinguished Emeritus Professor, S.M.S Medical College, Jaipur and Former Rector, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, who delivered the Panjab University Pharmaceutical Sciences Oration.

A scientific cake decorated with the structure of a drug discovered by the Research Group of Professor Harkishan Singh, and lined by the periodic table, with a humble man and his volcano of ideas on the top was designed by faculty and students of UIPS. A MEMOIR which is a compilation of messages in the form of fine memories from luminaries of the profession, colleagues and his students was presented to Professor Singh as a tribute. Professor Kanwaljit Chopra, Chairperson UIPS, presented a memento to Professor Harkrishan Singh and Professor P C Dandiya.

The eclectic persona of Professor Harkrishan Singh ignites sparks in the hearts of everyone he meets. He encourages one to explore the road less travelled and never fear to take up challenges in life, for these difficult roads often lead to the most beautiful destinations.
